Matheran Tour

Matheran means forest on the top. Situated at 803 meters above sea level, this is one of the two most favorite hill stations of Maharashtra. It's Proximity to Mumbai and easy accessibility has made it more popular among the Mumbaites. In 1850, Mallet, the district Collector of Thane first discovered this hill station. Located at a comfortable driving distance of 80 kms from Mumbai this is one of the best weekend getaways for Mumbai. On a clear night, one can easily see the lights of Mumbai from Bombay point. Matheran is surrounded by dense forest with almost 150 varieties of plants in it. Many birds species have made this forest their home. Some of the major species are: Kingfisher, Robin, Dhanesh, Bulbul, Lank etc. Though Matheran is basically a hill station and previously it was visited during summer, now with trekking enthusiasm on rise, this is very attractive point of trekking in the rains.

Day 01 : Mumbai - Matheran
On arrival at Matheran. You will have to park the vehicle at the Dasturi Naka checkpoint. No vehicles are allowed in Matheran. The mode of transport is Horses or handcarts. Check into the hotel. Evening at leisure. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 02 : In Matheran
Breakfast at the hotel. Later depart for a Half-day local sightseeing of Matheran visiting various sights on horseback or if you are more adventurous you can trek to these places .There are numerous points 2 lakes & parks. The beautiful Charlotte Lake (known as Sharlott lake to a few) is an absolute must see. One can feel the crisp cool air teasing your face as you survey the beautiful landscape around you. The entire hill resort gets its drinking water supply from the lake during the monsoon months, with its swirling coffee brown waters.

An ancient temple Pisarnath temple is located at the right of the lake and two beautiful picnic spots, Louisa point and Echo point are placed at the left of the lake. Food stalls serve up local delicacies and the lakefront is ideal for picnicking. The lake location is rich in panoramic sceneries and lusting greeneries. All the points give a unique view. Evening at leisure. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 03 : Matheran (Departure)
Breakfast at the hotel & check out for onward destination.
