Thanjavur, the legacy of the Chola Dynasty, is one of the most
prosperous districts in the country. Established during the beginning of
the Christian era, the glory of the Cholas is reflected in the 74 odd
temples in and around Thanjavur. It is scenically one of the most
enchanting districts in Tamil Nadu, and houses a World Heritage monument
- the Brahadeeswara Temple.
Thanjavur is famous for South Indian Silk and its distinctive art style
on glass, and who can claim to be unaware of the world famous Tanjore
paintings? Thanjavur district, the Rice Bowl of Tamil Nadu,
is also known for its exquisite handicrafts, bronzes and south Indian
Musical Instruments. (The Rock Fort Express plies daily between

Today you can visit Thiruvaiyur famous for saint Thygaraia (on own).
Afternoon explore Thanjavur town (on own). Overnight at the hotel.
Day 03: Thanjavur - Kumbakonam - Thanjavur
You may visit Kumbakonam famous for temples of Sarangapani. Evening
will be at your leisure. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 04: Thanjavur - Chennai
The day is at leisure. You could indulge in some shopping or just
relax. Later depart for Chennai on your own.
