The wonderful city of Jodhpur

The second largest city of the Indian state of Rajasthan, Jodhpur was formerly the seat of the princely state of Marwar. Founded by Rao Jodha of the Rathore Clan, the wonderful city of Jodhpur is much famous for massive palaces, beautiful temples, and magnificent forts. Jodhpur is also famous for wool, cattle, camels and salt.

Sometimes also called Sun City (the city has a bright, sunny weather throughout the year) and Blue City (houses are painted in blue), Jodhpur is located at the edge of the Thar Desert. The city has a rich history that dates back to hundreds of years. Old Jodhpur is surrounded with stone walls.

Umaid Bhawan Palace

Also called Chittar Palace, the Umaid Bhawan Palace is a beautiful palace with stunning balconies, charming courtyards, mesmerizing gardens, and stately rooms. Perhaps, the beautiful palace is the finest specimen of Indo Saracenic architecture. But, the USP of the Umaid Bhawan Palace is that it is the best private residence in the world.

Mehrangarh Fort

Also called Jodhpur Ka Kila, the massive Mehrangarh Fort is located on a rocky hill. The construction of the fort was started by Rao Jodha and completed by Jaswant Singh. The ramparts of the fort offer great views of the Jodhpur City. The Mehrangarh Fort has a wonderful museum that has howdahs, royal cradles, miniatures, musical instruments, costumes, and furniture which throw much light on the lifestyles and history of the Jodhpur rulers, their family members and other members of the royalty.

Mandore Gardens

Located nine kilometers away from Jodhpur, the Mandore Gardens has stunning gardens, great cenotaphs, breathtaking temples, interesting ruins with a rich history, and beautiful rock-carved sculptures.

Jodhpur Cuisines

The ancient city of Jodhpur boasts of lip-smacking cuisines that much add to the appeal of the famous city. Makhani Lassi, Mawa Kachori, Pyaz Kachori, Dal Baati Churma, Kadhi, Kachar Mircha Curry are just some of the several mouth-watering delicacies of the place.

When to visit

October to March is the best time to visit Jodhpur. The climate of the place is overall pleasant during this period. Besides, the amazing Marwar Festival held annually at Jodhpur that showcases the art and culture of the Jodhpur Region is held during this very period--in the month of October.

Jodhpur Heritage Tour Package Duration - 03 Days/ 02 Nights

Day 01. Arrive Jodhpur
Arrive Jodhpur airport/ railway station and transfer to your hotel for cheek in. Afternoon you will proceed for a half-day sight seeing tour of Jodhpur visiting viewing Mehrangarh Fort, Jaswant Thada & Umaid Bhawan Palace. Evening will be at your leisure. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 02: Jodhpur - Manvar
Morning you will depart for Manvar by surface (approx. 110 kms / 2 hrs). On arrival in Manvar you will check in at the Desert Camp. Rest of the day will be at leisure or you can enjoy a camel safari (on own) on the dunes. Overnight at the camp.

Day 03: Manvar - Jodhpur
Morning you will be at your leisure. Afternoon you will depart for Jodhpur. On arrival you will be transferred to the airport / railway station for your journey to onward destination.
